How it started
I was born in Venezuela and moved to the Dominican Republic at 17. After college I worked in software development, first locally and then remotely for companies in the US. Through that work I met a lot of talented people in Latin America who were eager for new opportunities.
They had the skill, the experience, and the right cultural fit to match anyone anywhere in the world. I started the company in 2014 to connect that talent with companies in the US and Canada. We started small. I found our first client on Reddit and hired my friend Alex to help in the evenings.
We have doubled or tripled in size every year since, and now have a team of more than 300 people across upwards of 15 countries.
yes, the first client really did come from Reddit
Why a finance practice
We learned that the hard way. Recruiting a backend developer and recruiting a staff accountant look similar from the outside and are not similar at all in practice.
A developer can prove skill with a portfolio. An accountant's qualifications sit with professional councils and universities that vary by country, and verifying them properly takes local knowledge.
You cannot assess an accountant with a coding challenge. Our technical evaluations are built around reconciliations, journal entries, and system-specific tasks in the platform you actually run.
Finance roles touch bank feeds, payment approvals, and payroll. That raises the bar on background verification and on how carefully permissions get scoped from day one.
What we care about
If nearshore is wrong for your situation, or the role you described should not be a hire at all, we will tell you on the first call. We would rather lose the deal than place someone into a role that was never going to work.
Cost savings come from the difference in local salary markets, not from underpaying. Our placements are compensated well for their own market, which is exactly why they stay.
A placement is not finished when the contract is signed. If someone is struggling in month two, that is our problem to surface and solve, not something to discover at renewal.
Our recruiters live in the markets they recruit in. That is why they can read a CV from Bogota properly and tell you which local credential is worth something and which is not.
You will speak with someone who knows the region and the roles, not a sales development rep working from a script.
